General Information

Hello family and friends!

Welcome to our wedding blog, where you can find all of the details for our wedding and the related events, logistics, and travel. Any updates will be posted here, as well as sent to your email or phone number provided on the RSVP Form.

Where: Karolyi Castle

When: Saturday, May 27, 2023

-- Welcome reception, 4pm

-- Ceremony, 5pm

-- Reception, 6pm until dawn

Travel: For those traveling internationally, we'd recommend securing your plane tickets as soon as possible. If you need a passport (renewal or new), you will have to apply by mail at least 3 months prior to traveling.

Flying into Budapest Airport (BUD) is the best option. You can then take a cab to your hotel. Public transportation is also very good and easy to use if you can arrange the trip with Google Maps.

Most people will speak English in and around the city of Budapest.

Money: Please keep in mind that Hungary does not use Euros so do not exchange for Euros. Hungary has their own currency, the Hungarian Forint, which you can get at a currency exchange when you arrive.

It's important to check the exchange rate because some of these currency exchanges will try to scam you (especially if you are American or use the ones in the airport). It is (as of now) about 350 HUF to 1 $.

Your credit and debit cards will work until you can exchange your dollars (and banks usually only charge 3-5% fee for using your card internationally).

Tentative schedule of events: (subject to change)

Wednesday, May 24: Dinner, drinks, and a walking tour in Budapest (location/time TBD)

We will meet at a restaurant in the inner city and enjoy dinner together before we go on a walking tour of the city after dark to see the Parliament building, St. Matyas Cathedral, and other sites of Budapest.

Thursday, May 25

Morning: Hiking Gellert Hill, time TBD

At the top of the hill, you can see the most amazing views of Budapest and the Danube river.

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. The path is paved and we won't encounter rough terrain, but it does get very steep and there are a lot of stairs.

Afternoon: Visit Gellert Thermal Baths, time TBD

Please bring a swimsuit, swim cap, towel, and flip-flops or sandals. Tickets can be purchased at Gellert when we arrive, the price is 7,100 HUF per person. Children are allowed.

Massages and other spa treatments can be arranged.

Friday, May 26: TBD

Saturday, May 27: Wedding and reception (travel to Karolyi Castle and accomodations have been arranged)

Accommodations: Accommodations for all international guests for the day of the wedding have been reserved on-site at Karolyi Castle. Check-in is at 2pm on Saturday, May 27th. We will be arranging a meeting point in Budapest where guests can be picked up and transported by bus to Karolyi Castle. Transportation back to Budapest the following morning will also be arranged.
