As our long-awaited day is just a month away, I thought we should make sure everyone is aware of some of the final details.
1) Can't wait to see all of you! It's going to be amazing!
2) The Welcome Dinner for international guests will be Wednesday, May 24 at 7pm at Álma és Körte. Please let me know if you will not be in attendance. The restaurant is nice, but not super fancy so wear whatever you're comfortable in!
The next morning, Thursday, May 25 we are planning to go hiking up Gellért Hill then go to Gellért Thermal Baths. For the hiking portion, comfortable shoes are fine (it isn't rugged, just steep at parts).
Please bring a swimsuit, flip flops, a swimcap, and a towel for the bathhouse. Although you can purchase these items at the bathhouse, they are very pricey there. The cost of the ticket into Gellért Bathhouse is approximately $28 (9,400 HUF) per person.
3) Hotel rooms at Károlyi Kastély are arranged and pre-paid for every guest. We kindly ask that you send your reimbursement of the room cost.
$100 (34,500 HUF) base room cost for 2 people
+$25 (8,900 HUF) for each additional person
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this cost breakdown! Here is Rachael's Venmo but if you would like to arrange another method of payment just let me or Csaba know privately.
4) We have arranged transportation to and from Fehérvárcsurgó. Meeting location Blaha Lujza tér.
5) The following is the schedule for Saturday and Sunday:
12:30-1:00pm Meet in Budapest for transportation to Fehérvárcsurgó
2:00pm Arrive & check-in to hotel
4:00pm Welcome reception
5:00pm Wedding ceremony
6:00pm Reception with dinner
12:00am Midnight snack
11:00am Check-out of hotel and transportation back to Budapest
(NOTE: Breakfast for Sunday morning is included with your rooms, time TBA)
5) We politely ask that guests do not use their phones or personal cameras to take pictures during the 4:00pm - 12:00am time frame when our two photographers are in attendance. We do understand that you, too, want to memorialize this day. We will happily distribute photos to you after the event.
6) We are very excited for our guests to experience the Hungarian culture and traditions. This is an unprecedented and likely rare opportunity for each of our families to get to know one another.
We do realize that there may be a significant language barrier for many of the guests. For this reason, we have seated bilingual guests at each table. For those bilingual guests who are willing, we will pass out special stickers so you will know who to go to when you want to practice ordering drinks in Hungarian or perfecting your accent to say "Köszönöm" (thank you) or "Egészségére!" (cheers!).
I would encourage you to download Google Translate, as well. Although it is not always a great translator, I've been told that it's (mostly) intelligible.
Some of the fun Hungarian wedding traditions that we've incorporated into the day:
Menyasszonytánc: "The Bride Dance" Guests pay to briefly dance with the bride.
Rablás: "The Kidnapping of the Bride" (literally "robbery") The groomsmen kidnap the bride during the end of the Bride Dance and the groom must complete different tasks to win her back.
7) I've created a WhatsApp group, if you have not already been added and would like to be, please send me a text (443) 333-7687 or go to this link WhatsApp group.
I can't wait to see you all on the other side of the world! It's going to be so much fun. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need help with anything.
Love,
Rachael & Csaba
